Flowers or donations?

One of the most frequent questions we hear about attending a funeral is ‘should I take flowers or make a donation?’

It used to be the custom for mourners attending a funeral to bring flowers – but there has been a big change here in recent years. More and more families are asking for donations in memory of the deceased to a named charity of their choice rather than the traditional flowers.

For all of the funerals we plan, we create a page on our website which includes all the details about the services and reception/wake. These pages also list whether the family would prefer flowers or donations. You can see a list of all current funerals here.

If the family has requested donations, we also offer the facility to make a donation online to the chosen charity. You can see a list of the current donation requests here.

If you’d prefer to make a donation in person, you can do so by simply visiting our office. We accept donations both in cash and by cheque – cheques are to be made payable to Robert Holland Donations Account. Once made, your donation will then go into a fund in memory of the person who has passed away.
