What is the cost for a pre-paid funeral plan?

Naturally this will depend on the type of service you want. The prices quoted are based on current prices for similar funerals. We offer a choice of set plans or we can tailor something to meet your individual requirements. Don’t worry – you won’t need to commit before you know the total price involved.


What happens if the general cost of a funeral increases?

Once you’ve paid the full plan price you won’t have to make any additional payments for our services. That’s the key benefit of our plans. You can choose to make a contribution towards third party costs which are outside our control.


How can you guarantee my money will be safe?

We will ask you to make your cheque payable to Ecclesiastical Planning Services (or EPS), Our plans are administered by Ecclesiastical Planning Services Limited, a national company specialising in pre-paid funeral plans. Ecclesiastical Planning Services are part of the Ecclesiastical Group who have been protecting people, property and funds since 1887. Robert Holland Funeral Directors will provide the service when required in return for a payment from Ecclesiastical Planning Services.


What other costs will there be at the time of the funeral?

There will never be any further charge for the services provided by us, as specified in your chosen plan. However a funeral also involves fees for third party costs such as the cemetery or crematorium and doctors’ examinations, the minister, flowers, press notices etc, some of which cannot be predicted in advance. We recommend that you include a substantial contribution towards these but it may need to be supplemented at the time of the funeral.


What about VAT?

Funerals are not subject to VAT so you don’t pay VAT on your plan. If a future government does introduce VAT on funerals, Ecclesiastical Planning Services will advise you of the options at that time.


Can I purchase a plan for someone else?

Yes. Just let us know who the plan is for when you set-up your plan, and Ecclesiastical Planning Services will send all correspondence to you.


How do I make my payments?

Most people prefer the convenience of making a single payment, so they don’t need to think about it anymore. You can give your funeral director a cheque (payable to \Ecclesiastical Planning Services or EPS) with your application form, or you can post them direct to the national office of Ecclesiastical Planning Services. Or you can take out a plan on our website and the funds go directly to Ecclesiastical.


Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. If you do not wish to pay the full amount today you can pay over 12, 24, 36, 48 or 60 months. There is no additional cost if you choose to pay over 12 months. There is an additional cost if you pay over 24, 36, 48 or 60 months. This additional cost is held within the plan and is used for the funeral at the time of need. If you stop paying your instalments you can leave the money paid so far in the plan as a contribution towards your funeral when the time comes or you can cancel the plan and receive a refund of monies paid less the management fee. 


What happens if I die away from home?

Each plan includes transfer from the local area, which is all that is normally required – please ask if you are not sure whether this is sufficient. We recommend that you take out travel insurance when you go on holiday, which usually includes the cost of bringing you back if you die while away from home.


What happens if I move out the area?

If you move away from Grantham or Lincolnshire we can transfer your plan to another qualified funeral director convenient to your new home. Funeral costs do vary from one area to another and you will be advised of any change in cost at that stage.


What happens if I change my mind later?

Not a problem. Customers occasionally have second thoughts about the type of funeral they want and it is reassuring to know that you can change your mind if you want to. We will advise on the alternatives available and make changes to your plan if necessary – this may affect the plan price depending on what you require. Our aim is to ensure that your plan remains right for you.
